eBook Maestro: Versatile EBook Compiler Software

Preparing eBook for compilation

Here are some rules that must be observed in order to create an eBook correctly. If you follow these rules your eBook will be structured and convenient for future additions and modifications.

  1. When you are preparing your eBook for compilation, make sure that all files used in the eBook are located in one directory. For example, C:\EBook Files\My EBook.
  2. Make sure that all hyperlinks in the eBook files are relative because all absolute links become inactive after the eBook is compiled. A sample relative link is «images/myimage.gif». A sample absolute link is «C:\EBook Files\My EBook\images\myimage.gif». This rule does not apply to external links. When the user follows any external link, a separate browser instance will be automatically opened. A sample external link is «http://www.ebookmaestro.com/index.html».
  3. Answer the question: «Will the eBook display anything in the Left Panel?»
If «Yes», make sure that all files of the Left Panel are located in a separate subdirectory of the eBook. For instance, C:\EBook Files\My EBook\Table of Contents or C:\EBook Files\My EBook\Additional Files\Left Panel.
  4. Answer the question: «Will the eBook have protected pages that will require the user to register?»
If «Yes», make sure that all «protected» files are located in a separate subdirectory of the eBook. For instance, C:\EBook Files\My EBook\Protected or C:\EBook Files\My EBook\Special Files\Registered Users.
